Say Alonzo on Sam Milby: ‘He knows I’m upset.’
by admin on Feb.08, 2009, under News
Actress Say Alonzo is upset with singer-actor Sam Milby’s statement that she invited him to visit her in the set of GMA-7’s TV series Lalola recently. According to Say, it was really Sam’s idea to see her on the set of the said TV series.
But after the said visit, reports followed that Sam was courting the series main actress Rhian Ramos. To dispel the rumor, the former ABS-CBN’s Pinoy Big Brother Season 1 housemate, said in an interview that he would not be there if not for Say’s invitation and he hardly know Rhian. Sam even brought foods for the whole cast, according to reports.
But instead of clearing the matter, Sam’s statement somehow put Say in a bad light, because an old issue was rekindled – that Say is again ‘using’ her former PBB housemate for her own publicity.
In an interview, Say vehemently denies it. “Since PBB days, they have been throwing that issue to me. Naibintang na yata nila sa akin pagdating kay Sam,” states the actress. “I have been a very good friend to him. Sam knows that I’m very upset. He knows the truth.”
Sam and Say became close friends when they joined the said TV reality show.

Kris Aquino jittery over contract expiry in Kapamilya network
by admin on Feb.04, 2009, under News
TV host-actress Kris Aquino admits she had the jitters when her contract with ABS-CBN ends this year. Even her husband James Yap noticed this, adds Kris.
The daughter of ex-President Corazon Aquino has been a Kapamilya Network talent for 20 years now, and says she has been very nervous the past weeks knowing her contract with the TV network will expire.
Kris also reveals that she dreamt of Toni Gonzaga replacing her as a host and was wearing her gowns, too.
But being a prized talent of Channel 2, they would not let go of Kris, that is for sure. To prove this, the TV host-actress will have five projects on the TV network.
She will still keep her hosting stints on her regular shows Kapamilya: Deal or No Deal and The Buzz. And although Boy and Kris will go off the air, a new showbiz program will be hosted by the duo on weeknights.
Kris will also anchor a lifestyle program and will have her horror series as well.
When asked if she and hubby James have plans of giving Baby James a brother, Kris just says, she’s not taking any birth control at the moment. And she’s ready if it happens.
Kris also has an inkling for politics but feels she’s not yet ready to enter it.

The Actor’s ‘booking’ business
by admin on Feb.04, 2009, under Blind Item
This award-winning actor is back in the ‘booking business’.
Nope, he does not work in a ticketing office or owns a travel agency.
The actor is offering his ‘service’ through the help of a gay friend for a price, of course. Which is, according to a source, is more affordable now. Presyong ukay-ukay, adds the source.
Although the actor is still good-looking, he is not that young anymore. And unlike before where he topbills in the movies, our bida gets to play bit roles na lang in some TV series. But he is still a good actor nonetheless.
What drove this actor in the ‘booking business’ again?
Despite of the fact that he earns not that much now, the actor frequents casinos na naman. He gambles heavily, noted the source.
Kapag kinapos, that is the time the actor will call his booking agent.
Habits are really hard to break. The actor almost lost not only his savings but also his family because of gambling.
He promised to change. But now he is doing it again.
Haayy… Some people do not really learn from their past mistakes.
JC de Vera’s ‘girlfriend’ is not Rhian Ramos, source says
by admin on Feb.04, 2009, under News
JC de Vera is probably sighing in relief now that the TV series Lalola is over. Simply because it will mean no more showbiz press pangungulit as to what is the real score between him and ka-loveteam Rhian Ramos.
Several reports say that JC and Rhian are really an on- and off-screen sweethearts, especially those coming from the Kapuso network’s publicity mill.
But a very reliable source reveals that JC is currently dating the niece of politician Chavit Singson.
And that JC and Rhian’s ‘romance’ is just a pakilig to the viewers of Lalola.
Now that Rhian will be once again paired with Richard Gutierrez for the new TV series Zorro , fans of JC and Rhian will have to wait and see if their romance goes beyond the publicity of Lalola.

Movie Review: Valkyrie
by admin on Feb.01, 2009, under Review
By DT
One of the most blogged and heatedly-debated movie last year, and if not, this year is Valkyrie, Tom Cruise’s newest motion picture as German officer of the Third Reich Colonel Claus von Stauffenberg.
It’s common knowledge that Valkyrie wasn’t given a high mark by critics abroad undeserving of Tom Cruise’s caliber as an A-List actor. Too bad.
It may be because of Cruise’s rash of undesirable antics in his personal life that brought about the actor’s box-office downfall, and ultimate disdain by critics.
Reason why movie goers are influenced not to touch the movie with a ten-foot pole, figuratively-speaking.
On the other hand, this didn’t stop Cruise from finishing the film and finding a playdate for it. Why? Because the film in all its entirety has a big lesson to teach for history’s mistakes.
Yes, the film wasn’t given that authentic flair on one element namely the absence of the German ‘twang’ in all, if not some of its most important moments (except the opening scene, of course). But with all due respect, this is not a valid basis why critics should shut out the movie’s merits…
In reality, the film itself is a narrative on the life of a Nazi German soldier and his cohorts secretly fighting the tyranny and evil designs of a murderous dictator, Adolf Hitler.
Let’s just say that the use of the English language as a medium is to reach out to the majority of movie goers, here and abroad who prefer their movies as such. Besides, it’s easier to understand what the movie conveys when it’s in the English vernacular.
It can be safe to assume that this is a technique to avoid the stressful monotony of reading subtitles below the screen as scenes progress… usually common in foreign films with foreign tongues.
Moreover, Tom Cruise and the actors that comprise Valkyrie is not really the basis why movie goers should not watch the film in the first place. Personally speaking, the story line of the film is already a crowd-drawer mainly because Valkyrie focuses on the personal truth that patriotism isn’t always love of country, and adherence to its tenets. In this case, Col. von Stauffenberg’s sworn allegiance to his oath to the Nazi regime.
The film will help us realize that war isn’t always about killing the enemy. It’s about killing their ideologies which go counter against common norms. Terrorism for example.
In Cruise’s portrayal, Col. von Stauffenberg’s emotional anguish is clearly conveyed.
Though not explicitly detailed, the emotion can be felt. The personal turmoil of staying in the fold of sworn allegiance to the Third Reich while plotting against Hitler is realized as innocent people suffer and die for a selfish cause.
Valkyrie also puts across the unparalleled bravery of the personalities, renegades as they are against a formidable foe, albeit, fellow Germans…the Nazis… in the face of war.
For those not in the loop, Valkyrie is the name given to the emergency measure in case Hitler dies or fail to continually serve in his capacity as Fuhrer. Secondly, Valkyrie is also a means in perpetuating the terms of office of the Nazi regime.
In Nazi hands, Valkyrie is a weapon against the opposition critical of the regime. But in Stauffenberg’s hands, the emergency power was used against Hitler himself and his chain of command.
In the last attempt to assassinate the dictator (led by the Stauffenberg), the latter mobilized Germany’s reserved forces to capture and imprison the SS Gestapo and seize strategic government offices and installations. The ultimate plan was to form a new government free of Nazi tyranny and rule, and make contact with the Allied forces to further avoid bloodshed and the inevitable destruction of Germany.
We don’t want to spoil the fun by detailing the movie’s conclusive ending. We just want everyone to watch the film and formulate their own take on the film’s merits.
In recap, we encourage you to open your mind to the merits of Valkyrie. Veer away from the influence of reviews, and embrace the message that history brings. Besides, the movie’s underlying theme has applications in the contemporary world…
“The Führer’s promises of peace and prosperity have fallen by the wayside, leaving in their wake a path of destruction. The outrages committed by Hitler’s SS are a stain on the honor of the German Army.
There is widespread disgust in the officer corps toward the crimes committed by the Nazis – the murder of civilians, the torture and starvation of prisoners, the mass execution of Jews. My duty as an officer is no longer to save my country, but to save human lives.
I cannot find one general in a position to confront Hitler with the courage to do it. I’ve found myself surrounded by men unwilling – or unable – to face the truth: Hitler is not only the archenemy of the entire world, but the archenemy of Germany.
A change must be made…”
—Colonel Claus von Stauffenberg
